New Gran Turismo 5 patch v 1.03 fixes damage

Polyphony's unleashed the latest Gran Turismo 5 patch which adds mechanical damage settings online.

Polyphony Digital boss Kaz Yamauchi, gave news on the new update at the beginning of the month saying that it would address fan concerns with the game's controversial mechanical damage system, which was previously unlocked with in-game experience. Initial reports on the update are suggesting that control over damage levels is, however, limited to online modes.

Players have three levels of "none", "light" and "heavy" to choose from.

The next Gran Turismo 5 patch is expected to allow save data back-ups and will arrive at the end of the month.

The patch weight around 150 MB and it will add a mechanical damage to the game along with an option of either none, light or heavy damage.

Cataclysm street date broken

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm isn't scheduled for release until the early hours of tomorrow morning, but a few lucky Warcraft fiends have managed to get their hands on Blizzard's latest expansion a little early. A number of GameStop stores in Sweden have jumped the gun and sold Cataclysm before its official launch, breaking an international sales embargo in the process, GI.biz reports.
GameStop staff have confirmed the sales, citing the breach of the embargo by a rival chain, the Gothenburg branch of Rocks, as the reason for its decision to sell the title early.

However, the GameStop stores in question have since stopped selling the game and vowed to abide by the midnight sales embargo.

Despite receiving the game early, players won't be able to launch Cataclysm until Blizzard throw the switches on at midnight.

GAME will be holding the UK launch of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm later today in Leicester Square, London.

New donkey kong wii jungle beat and Videos

What's the best Donkey Kong game of all time? Perhaps Nintendo's new history of Donkey Kong video will help you decide as it shows off footage from his most famous games.

Donkey Kong is arguably the most important as not only was it Nintendo's big entry into the world of gaming, it also introduced us to Jumpman who would later become Mario.

We then see the game in action on Game & Watch and NES before moving on to Donkey Kong's big comeback. The awesome SNES platformer that was 1994's Donkey Kong Country. Next is 1999's Donkey Kong 64 followed by GameCube's Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat also takes us back to the days when games didn't really need some kind of intricate plot nor heroes any real motivation. Basically, some weird flying tiki masks have nicked DK's bananas and mesmerised his jungle-living chums. DK and his son, Diddy, are off to get them back - and that's all there is to it. DK runs from left to right, the screen scrolls with him, there's a whole lot of banana-collecting, along with enemies to be jumped on or rolled over and various deadly objects to be avoided. It's a classic platformer in the vintage mould, and the kind of game that leaves you feeling that, sometimes, we don't really need to reinvent the platform gaming wheel.

Finally, there's some Donkey Kong Country Returns footage. Donkey Kong Jungle Beat already released and ready to be owned.

Donkey Kong Country Back In Action

Nintendo, it is fair to say, can take much credit for innovation in gaming's recent past. The company popularised gesture-control though the Wii, and used the DS to charm swathes of non-gamers into picking up a stylus. And yet, in spite of this reputation for leading the medium into new realms, where Nintendo often excels is in a gaming form largely consigned to history: the humble platformer.

Retro Studios are starting to make a name for themselves as the go-to guys for revamping classic gaming series. They breathed new life into Metroid with their Prime FPS games and they've once again worked their magic here.

Sticking closely to the blueprint laid down in its 16-bit SNES predecessor, this 2D side-scrolling platformer is as fun and challenging as it gets.

Like the Super Mario titles of generations past, Donkey Kong Country Returns challenges the player with the apparently simple task of moving from A to B by traversing a two-dimensional plain generously peppered with ledges, moving scenery, bottomless pits and wildly jerking contraptions that are all designed to outwit the titular protagonist. Itself a sequel to the 1994 game Donkey Kong Country, Nintendo's latest in a long line of platformers is an elaborate showcase of level design and a marvel of pacing.

Donkey Kong's destination as he jumps and climbs hardly matters. It is the journey across a large tropical island that counts. Indeed, the sun-kissed assault courses that he must negotiate look basic at first glance, friendly even, draped as they are in luscious flora and bristling with lolloping island wildlife. In fact, thanks to incredibly sharp level design, each is a rich playground filled with surprises, and many are genuinely challenging. Every few minutes of play introduce a clever new spin on what can be done with such a simple template, as platforms and ledges are combined in inspired and original ways. Such is the game's wit and cunning that it teases with fresh conundrums at the exact moment you feel you have learned all its tricks.
